The Truth About My Mother

My mission often allows me to
love people even more and see who they really are and what they really do.
And with all the studies I had regarding motherhood and being a daughter, it was then I realized I never really understood my mother.

Listening to this song written for Emma Smith
.. I couldn't but remember my own mother. How these words perfectly fits her. My mother is not a prophet's wife nor had she or will cross freezing rivers or run from mobs to protect her children.. but while I was pondering the hardships and toil my mother had... I thought she has the same brave fragile heart.

She never had an ordinary day.
She decided to have 13 kids.
It took me a very very long time to understand.
 It was a choice.
She chose to be a mother of many with her wonderful husband.
She chose not to have any ordinary day with him.

It was never in between.
Her days were extraordinary in many little ways.
W ether it's hard or easy, it was never ordinary.
The thought of her having a child at a young age makes me gasp in awe.
The stories of her craving for more knowledge to she'll know how to raise us good.
My heart overflows with love when
I think of her great choices often not for herself but for her children
My heart even overflows with gratitude because of how brave she is
during times which is completely new to her. When she needs to make choices foreign to her.
When she makes mistakes only to learn things sometimes the hard way.
Because she has to.
She has to grow and learn her profession with mistakes every now and then.
When she has to break so she could be more beautiful.
And then she blooms like no any other.
I wonder how heaven rejoices over her courage and sacrifice.
She taught taught us to be brave. She taught us hard work and sacrifice.
She didn't do charity. She is charity.
She made it a part of herself and it became very natural she didn't know she is making it.
She knew her children will be good and though her fragile heart will ache from time to time because of her children's imperfections she still believes her children will be good.
And so she taught us to see the good in everyone. She taught us to repent and make a better us.
She taught us that change is needed to be good.
She taught us what is important and to dream.
She taught us to chase after them.
Her capability to love and learn makes my testimony of a loving Heavenly Father even stronger.
Her love is  divine I know she inherits it from Someone with divinity.

My mother is stronger than the storm while her love gives peace and hope.
I have seen her almost giving up but then again like so many other days, she didn't.
She worked everyday, sacrificed even more everyday. Loves even more.

She taught us in the best way that she knew. She may have not giving everything nor taught everything good.. but she gave and still gives all of herself for her children.
She will not allow anyone to make her do it otherwise.
And what she gives are never ordinary.
Because after all she is always extraordinary.

How about earning a medallion before getting married?

I love getting better everyday.

And what else can help us women be better this summer and after?

I know. I know. I was long gone my Young Women years.
But hey, we never graduate from being better every day.

Suffice to say, I did not understand but I do now.
It's more essential than how you think it is. I will not talk about regrets but how hopeful it is today.

I have many friends who earned it, and they are the best examples. My mission allowed me to know more women who understood and earned it. And now, my sweet sister May (who just turned 16) will be getting her medallion soon. She understood.
Such an inspiration.

You are given one chance after another because He never gives up on you.

I'm excited! I wish I could be with my own sisters and sister missionaries who so wanted to go through the program. Come on, let do it because it's worth it.

Extra helps do not hurt.
 Cool personal progress helper site.

How  about earning a medallion before getting married? NO.

How about getting better everyday at your values and shining brighter and brighter before marriage? YES.

Breaking the ice: How I feel about post mission

It's exactly one month today since I returned from my mission. It is hard and it's getting harder everyday. And because of that reason, I am breaking the ice and I will finally share what I think and feel about returning. A disclaimer though...

Disclaimer:
To my dearest posterity, yes I know this will reach the social media. 50% of my facebook friends will see this on their feeds. 10% will open the link and finally 4-6 individuals will read the whole entry. Now remember, our goal is to record. Family History baby. If I never taught you this, I am a terrible great great grandmother. If I did, yay! I'm great! I will be great. :D

Okay here we go...

Being a returned missionary is HARD!

I need a planner
I can't even.. what is even happening??? I want to go back to my mission
Temple Marriage!!!

Me at Week 4
Being a returned missionary is AWESOME! The first few weeks were refiner's fire. But what's the difference, mortality is refiner's fire. I am learning everyday. It's okay to get discouraged. It's okay to feel alone sometimes. It's okay to feel confused about what to do. It's okay if you feel like your plans are less perfect that what you've thought. It's okay to feel scared sometime. Because you know what? You are growing. You are becoming the person Heavenly Father wants you to be. He is allowing you to feel all these because he trusts you. He molded you from the very beginning. You can do it. I can do it.

Postmission craziness still not over. But here's what. The Atonement is available. Amidst all the challenges I am facing right now inside the own walls of my home and outside, there is the Atonement. I wake up happy everyday. And as long as I keep on pressing forward feasting upon the words of Christ and becoming like my Savior Jesus Christ, I know it will be okay.

Blessings pour. I can see more opportunities for more education.  I started going to workshops and taking counsels from my family and priesthood leaders. Because it is hard, I seek for more and more guidance and confirmations from my Heavenly Father. I said no to my old job even though I didn't know what alternatives are sure. I just knew it's right. I have a new job now and I am excited to see where it will take me. Friends who are busy takes time to check on me to find out if I need some help. I am making changes and it's great.

Real score, I will not have it any other way.

This post is too long for a month's share. :D

Home :)

18 months. 18 wonderful months. My misison president counseled me this a few months before the end of my mission " Going home? It's scary huh? The only going home I know is going back home to our Heavenly Father." It's true! My mission doesn't end here. Taking my nametag off was not even a reality to me. It was again bittersweet but I will always wear a nametag in my heart. The mission is not the crowning event of a gospel life. It's eternal marriage! Suffice to say, I am excited and is looking forward to what's next. It's great to be with my family again! My earthly family is my sunshine. I know there will still be ups and downs but I am determined to go home to my Heavenly Father. :)

It's not really goodbye.

I thought this post deserves more details than what I usually do...
Sunday- after the district conference, we traveled to Davao and dropped Elder Perez off the airport. Went to Tagum, yes you read it right, my lovely Tagum. Saw several of my most favorite people and slept in the sister's apartment. With Sister Distrito. :D I will  make add anymore, you know what happens next. Happy times.
Monday- President Torres picked us up and a few more sisters on the way. The office elders are the best and the kindest too. Haha they probably have a perfect understanding already of how we feel. No, not really haha
Tuesday- Career workshop. Then a devotional with President Torres... mixed emotions. Our orientation was like only yesterday, why are you sending us off already? It was very spiritual and again, bittersweet. He is like a father sending us to the real world. Of all the wonderful counsels he gave in the interview and the meeting, these too stood out. Mission is not the crowning event in a gospel life, it's temple marriage. Telling us to apply what we learned in the mission and seek for higher ordinances in the temple. Second, he truly truly loves us.
Wednesday- overwhelming feelings. I am ready to go home but leaving was hard. Last mission moments with sisters I really love was precious. Im eternally grateful of eternal friends.I knew I was surrounded with missionaries who had done their best. And are determined to do their best after. The travel and the airport is like a surreal for me. I was consumed with happiness and gratitude.
In other news, I did not get to enjoy the travel because I was unbelievably sick! Sister Distrito sure was very patient and kind to take care of me. :D
